6 Reasons Why Bangkok should be on Top of your Travel List

Bangkok is a city that is the only one of its kind. It is consistently ranked among the top tourist destinations in the world. Having been to Bangkok numerous times, I can confidently say the only thing I miss about America there is my Spectrum internet bundle connection. Every other thing is overshadowed by a barrage of sights, smells, sounds and experiences in this amazing city. I always tell my friends to visit Thailand and the most common reply I get is why one should visit there!

In this blog, I will list down six out of a multitude of reasons to visit Bangkok. Read on to know why Bangkok should be your top travel destination this year.

The Sumptuous Food

Are you one of those people who like Thai food but have never been to Thailand? I can guarantee you that you never experience authentic Thai food until you have actually been to Bangkok. Thai cuisine is undoubtedly among the best in the world. From the moment you first smell the aroma rising from street food stands, you will be unable to control your taste buds. There is more flavor, spices and variety in Bangkok street food than the best Thai restaurants in America. The food is uniquely flavored here and each dish almost has a tangible personality. For people like me who don’t have a very high tolerance for spices, you can always ask for mai pet or “not spicy”. There is always food available in Bangkok, no matter what time it is. Prepare your taste buds for a memorable culinary experience.

The Warmth

For someone who’s spent most of their adult life shoveling snow off the driveway, Bangkok is a welcome change. It’s always sunny and warm here, thanks to its tropical climate. You won’t have to bundle yourself up in warm clothes and feel miserable because of sleet or snow. Bangkok does have a monsoon season but even during the rains the temperature stays pleasantly warm by American standards. A simple T-shirt and shorts are acceptable apparel to be out and about. Around January, the temperature drops, but not below 20°C so it’s still warm compared to a lot of places back home. For people who are sick of cold weather, Bangkok is a warm respite.

  1. The Beautiful People

Thai people, especially women, are amongst some of the prettiest in the world. So it comes as no surprise that many foreigners end up marrying locals. Bangkok is a city full of beautiful people and its always a welcome change seeing tanned, beautiful faces smiling at you on the streets. Thai locals have an exotic quality about them that is just irresistible.

The Convenience

Bangkok is one of the most convenient cities in the world. And not just when it comes to food. If you need to visit a pharmacy at 2AM, you’ll find one open in Bangkok. If you suddenly feel the urge to go shopping, you will find stores open in the middle of the night. If you randomly want to take a bus to Vietnam, which can easily be arranged regardless of what time it is. Bangkok offers all the convenience in the world to tourists and locals alike. It is an experience quite unlike any other.

The Cosmopolitan Environment

Bangkok is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. Because it’s such a popular tourist spot, it’s always full of foreign faces all year round. I have met and made friends with travelers from Japan, Turkey, Germany, France and The U.K. while wandering the city. Bangkok has a very diverse collection of people from all over the world. So there is a good chance of meeting most nationalities while you’re there. Get ready to form companionship with fellow tourists as well as locals.

The Friendly Locals

Everyone has different stories when they visit Bangkok but the friendliness of the locals is constant across all accounts. Bangkok has some of the nicest locals in any tourist destination in the world. They are warm, friendly and ever ready to help you. Whether you need directions or translation, Thai people are more than happy to help. They always treat you well and you’ll be surprised how many of them remember you when you visit again. I have a few favorite haunts in the city and I am welcomed there warmly and enthusiastically every time I visit Bangkok. The friendliness is almost infectious there!

Bangkok is more than just a tourist spot. It is an immersive and interactive experience which will profoundly change how you view travel destinations. But don’t just take my word for it. Do your own research. Use your Spectrum internet to find travelogues on the internet or food shows on TV. And once you actually decide to visit Bangkok, you will be struggling, like me, to find words to describe the experience!
