Gurugram..Where the Shopaholic in Me Was Left Spoilt For Choice

Whoever said Money can’t Buy Happiness Simply didn’t Know where to Go Shopping’ – Bo Derek

But the people of Gurugram surely know how to shop like a pro and the testimony of this skill is in the numbers of malls which are cropping up in Gurugramrapidly. Before the malls took over the small markets, shopping involved going to that one shop which you knew stocked your favorite items, and where you could test your bargaining skills. Malls have made both these skills redundant, for one, you are spoilt for choice like I was when visiting Gurugram Malls on a shopping spree. The first level of the challenge was to pick a mall and that was a Herculean task in itself. Once you pick the mall, you need to zoom in on that one store out of the myriad of stores selling the same item in a different variant, and offering a different discount. Don’t believe how tough it was? Let me prove it to you.

Ambience Mall

It is one of the biggest malls in India where you can shop till you drop, then get up and repeat the sequence. And that’s not all, for you can pack in a movie show and have both your lunch as well as dinner at the fabulous eating joints and restaurants in this mall. H&M, Charles & Keith, Zara is of the biggies for shopping and then there are names like Juicy Couture and Jamie’s Pizzeria for those hunger pangs. And while all this was going on, my little one was tugging at my clothes to take her to Fun City and I skate. Phew, there is so much to do here. And did I mention that I did catch a movie at PVR cinemas too on the same day? What a day!

Galaxy Mall

Located near the Huda City Metro Station, the mall is a like a combination of all goodies in one basket. The building includes a shopping mall, hotel, and a spa, all rolled into one. It was one of the first malls in Gurugram to have a hotel in the same premises and Galaxy Hotel is one of the best hotels in Gurugram. Some of the best pubs in the city are at this mall, which by the way has a very good parking facility. The Cube, The Monk and The Godfather are some names that draw a big crowd over the weekend. There is a good lineup of stores in this mall including some amazing boutiques and shops for women like AND, Anokhi and Sozi.

  • Location:Sector 15, Part 2

MGF Metropolitan

The first thing I noticed on entering this mall was the horde of youngsters flocking the mall, not that it made me feel any older, but it made me realize that the mall sure is the best place to shop for ‘what’s trending’. Names like Reebok, Nike, Hidesign and Vero Moda are favorites of the college crowd. The Multiplex here is quite good and is managed by PVR. Food wise you will have a lot of choices as well, and that is quite important, for all that shopping and window shopping sure made me hungry as a wolf. TGIF, Pizza Hut, Barista, and McDonald’s are a good choice for a grab and go meal. Don’t miss the gaming zone AMOEBA while there.

  • Location:Mehrauli-Gurugram Road

DLF Grand Mall

Grand as the name is, this one houses some excellent shopping options like Westside, Landmark Book Store, Noritake, X- Box and Magpie, Hands, and Muslin.

  • Location: Mehrauli-Gurugram Road, DLF Phase 1, Sector- 28

Star Mall

PVR and big brands like Nike, Puma, Vero Moda, Peter England, and Louis Phillipe are some of the highlights of Star Mall. It is located on the Delhi- Jaipur Highway, but it is worth going that extra mile when you get to shop like crazy and have a tiring but fulfilling day. Yes, you read it right, for a shopaholic, shopping is like therapy and supremely fulfilling.

  • Location:Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Block A, Sector 30

Are you looking for more? This list is just the tip of the iceberg for Gurugram is a paradise when it comes to malls. Other good malls in the city are Mega Mall, DLF City Centre Mall, South Point Mall, Metropolis Mall, and Gurugram Central.  Happy shopping to you.
